Jamie Morris : Wine Tasting in Santa Barbara : Saarloos & Sons Tasting Room
Saarloos & Sons Tasting Room
Wine Tasting in Santa Barbara

For President's Day Weekend, I went up to Santa Barbara for some wine tasting. Even though I just went there less than 2 months ago, I decided to go back. We arrived on Saturday afternoon and visited Epiphany, Qupé, Saarloos & Sons, and Carhartt tasting rooms in Los Olivos. On Sunday, we visited Curran, Blackjack, Beckman, Rancho Sisquoc, Foxen, Buttonwood, and The Hitching Post. I had been to a couple of these on my last trip, but most of them were new for me. My favorite of the weekend was Saarloos. Unfortunately, they don't sell their wines in stores so I might have to order some online. I also had some great food this weekend including truffle pizza, steak, danish pancakes, and belgian waffles. Here are some pictures I took during the trip.

Jamie Morris : Roller Derby, Mexican Wrestling, Burlesque, and more : Lucha (Crazy Chickens) & VaVoom (Lucy Fur and Audrey Deluxe)
Lucha (Crazy Chickens) & VaVoom (Lucy Fur and Audrey Deluxe)
Roller Derby, Mexican Wrestling, Burlesque, and more

I've been back in LA for several weeks now, but I've gotten very behind on my blog so I'm backdating some posts to try to catch up on some things I missed. First, I saw a few movies... The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Slumdog Millionaire, The Uninvited, The Goods, and I Love You Man. Slumdog was really good. I didn't see a lot of movies in the past year, but my other favorites were Son of Rambow and Vicky Christina Barcelona. Also in the past few weeks I went to see the L.A. Derby Dolls roller derby match between the Tough Cookies and the Fight Crew. Always fun and always soldout. This match was the closest one I've seen... it went into overtime. I also spent some time downtown this week. I had some lobster and sharkfin soup (I know, I know) in Chinatown during Chinese New Year. I drank some absinthe for the first time one night at The Edison. And I went Lucha VaVoom at the Mayan for a mexican wrestling / burlesque show (photo gallery). Besides all that, I've been going to some local CouchSurfing events and I've been hosting a CouchSurfer named Angel who's just moved to LA from Austin. More later…
